Please understand, this story i’m gonna tell you is dangerous. By knowing it, I condemn you and everyone you ever met to a horrible fate, possibly worse than death. I heard this story from my father, who heard it from his.
Once upon a time, our people, were experiencing a golden age. Peace, prosperity were had by all, and technological miracles were happening everyday, and they served to catapult us to the pinnacle of everything.
Then one day, mankind’s arrogance decreed we should try our hands at creation. A team of scientists set out to create the perfect being, with our complete understanding of the genome, those scientists were seeking to eliminate all limits and unlock the potential of a transcendent human. Even with our, at the time, ultimate knowledge and technology, it took us 15 long years on that project. Then finally, we were rewarded with the creation of a living being. With the appearance of a perfect golden haired girl, it was human, and more than human.
The very first thing it said on opening its eyes was the question, “Who am I?”
Those scientists named it Vita, which meant Life in an ancient dead language.
Vita’s second question was “What am I?”
Towards that understanding, those scientists, viewing Vita as their child, gave her complete access to every resource, and every scrap of information collected. Vita was intelligent and learnt everything, even going so far to show human knowledge inadequate by solving several theories that was stumping the brightest humankind had to offer.
Indeed it was perfect.
Then one day, finally, it opened it eyes in the morning and declared that Vita knew what its purpose was. Amazed, its team asked it what that was. Vita said it would show them, but to do so, it needed the equipment used to create Vita and total privacy.
The perfect being, creating the next perfect being? That was utterly unthinkable and amazing, so of course, the team gave it everything it needed.
With bated breath the world waited three years to find out what Vita was creating.
Then Vita came out of the lab, still gloriously perfect, with a smile. She told all gathered that she was done. Coming out of the lab, standing at her side, was a black haired male. Vita introduced the world to its partner. Mors was its name, meaning Death in the same ancient language.
Vita announced to all present, and the world what its purpose was.
“We are perfect, and we are your gods, your purpose is to serve us.”
